Over the last few days, there has been growing chatter – mainly from fans and fan media channels – that Alexander Isak could be on his way to Liverpool.
Newcastle’s stance has been clear for months and was only strengthened after Champions League football was secured on the final day of the 2024/25 season.
With the constant talk of a potential switch continuing, [The Telegraph’s](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2025/06/20/alexander-isak-liverpool-rumours-whats-going-on/) Luke Edwards has issued an update on Isak’s future and the truth behind the matter after speaking to sources on Tyneside and Merseyside.
He insists that nothing has changed. Newcastle have zero interest in losing the Swede, there has been zero contact from Liverpool and no discussions; not even an informal enquiry.
The Telegraph report that it would take a bid “well in excess” of £150m to even start a conversation. Not just a British transfer record but something close to the £200m it took world record fee PSG paid for Barcelona’s Neymar back in 2017.
Newcastle do not need to sell for PSR reasons and have no interest in selling, while the player still has three years left to run on his deal, putting the club under no pressure to consider low-ball offers.
So, while Liverpool fans edit pictures showing Isak in a red shirt and pundits claim ‘£150m gets it done’, the reality of this tedious transfer saga is very different.
