Liverpool are nearing a deal with Bournemouth to acquire Milos Kerkez in a deal estimated at about £40m.
The Hungarian left-back has been on the Reds' radar for some time, and after weeks of negotiations with the Cherries, it appears a resolution has been reached. Kerkez, who is set to sign a five-year contract, will become the priciest left-back in Merseyside history, eclipsing the £12m sum paid for Alberto Moreno from Sevilla 11 years ago.
A medical examination is slated for next week, paving the way for the formalities of the move. This acquisition will take Liverpool's summer expenditure to approximately £185m, following deals with Bayer Leverkusen for £29m Jeremie Frimpong and £116m Florian Wirtz, whose record-breaking transfer is due to be confirmed shortly.
Giorgi Mamardashvili will also join from Valencia this summer, following a £29m agreement made last year. Kerkez has not been shy about his ambition to join the Reds, frequently expressing his desire on social media in recent months.
It's believed that the involvement of sporting director Richard Hughes, who himself moved from the Vitality Stadium last summer, played a significant role in the process for the 21-year-old, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Bournemouth had been holding off until they secured a replacement before finalising the sale of their defender. With the signing of Adrien Truffert for around £14m this week, the path has been cleared for Liverpool to secure their target.
Speaking on the Super Indirektno podcast this week, Kerkez's dad, Sebastijan, made it crystal clear: "It's only Liverpool for us and we're not going anywhere else and we won't talk to other clubs.
"Everything is done between us, we just need to sort out some details, but it's basically a done deal.
"Richard Hughes brought us to Bournemouth, if he said we go to India, then we go to India, everything is agreed, just some little things [left to conclude]."
Kerkez, who joined Bournemouth from AZ Alkmaar two years back as a young gun for a cool £15m, has racked up 67 appearances for the Cherries.

Yet, he's been chomping at the bit to team up with his Hungary mate Dominik Szoboszlai at Anfield and play for the Premier League champs.
The word is that Kerkez will join the Liverpool lads for pre-season training come July 7, gearing up for their first summer friendly against Preston North End on July 13.
