Chelsea continue their FIFA Club World Cup campaign today (June 20) with their second group stage fixture. Their opponent is Rio de Janeiro’s Flamengo, who play in the Brazilian Série A.

Enzo Maresca’s men kicked-off the tournament with a comfortable 2-0 win against LAFC on Monday, while Flamengo earned the same score against Es Tunis. The two sides will meet in the latest round of Group D fixtures at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field, home of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles.

Chelsea are flying high following their UEFA Conference League triumph in May, with the Club World Cup providing another chance of silverware ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season. The Blues will come up against a familiar face in today’s fixture in ex-Chelsea midfielder Jorginho, who now plays his football with the Brazilian side.

Ahead of the game, Maresca said he intends to rotate his squad throughout the tournament, with three to five changes expected each game. Speaking to Sky Sports, the Chelsea boss said: “Because it’s a tournament and we have a game every three days, we need to rotate players.

“I’m not saying that we are going to rotate 10, 11 players each game, but we need to rotate three, four, five each game for sure. We cannot play every three games with the same players.

“The ones that we try to rotate a little bit in the first game are the ones that we try to rotate since day one – Romeo (Lavia) and Reece (James). Also, we gave some minutes to Moi (Caicedo) after he played all season and with Dario Essugo. We are going to try to continue on that.”
