Chelsea are set to part ways with multiple current stars. One of them is tipped to join newly promoted Premier League clubs. But, it will still be a tough transfer due to his current wages.
Chelsea have a very high squad depth. They are set to sign some more players this summer. This will force them to sell many of the current stars. It is needed to open up space and raise funds. Otherwise, they can breach PSR and this will result in ugly penalties.
The Blues are set to part ways with many players. Enzo Maresca is known for taking bold decision. He has already told many players to find a new club. One of them is Raheem Sterling. He was already on loan away from Stamford Bridge at Arsenal.
Sterling has failed to impress at North London. Hence, Gunners have opted against making him their permanent player. The 30 year old is now back at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have no intention to keep him and are planning to sell him permanently.
Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness had his say about Sterling. Firstly, he talked about the 30 year old’s future at Stamford Bridge. He then named possible destinations for him this summer. Lastly, he explained what can become the stumbling block in the potential deal.
“I think it’s going to be a big problem to move him on. I think you’re really going to be restricted, in my opinion, to the three clubs coming up – Leeds, Burnley, Sunderland; I think that’s where he might find a space” – Wyness talking to Football Insider.
“But again, the wages are going to have to be really heavily subsidised to get any move at all. But, I think it’s going to come to the point that there will be the case” – Wyness on Sterling’s wages.
Sterling will surely have his say about his future. But, he has very few clubs interested in him. His form has dipped due to which the 30 year old needs to compromise on his salary. It will be interesting to see how his story unfolds this summer.
