Report: Arsenal now eyeing move to sign 'incredible' 20-goal Sesko alternative for Arteta

Arsenal are among a host of European and Premier League clubs eyeing a surprise summer move for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa, according to TEAMtalk.

The Gunners, along with Nottingham Forest, Tottenham, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, are aware of the Congolese international’s availability in the market, with just 12 months remaining on his Brentford contract.

The Bees reportedly value Wissa at around £50m following his strong Premier League campaign and are wary of the growing market interest.

Brentford are believed to be actively working to tie Wissa down to a new long-term contract, as they hope to avoid a first-team exodus this summer, with Bryan Mbeumo now heading to Manchester United.

According to TEAMtalk, Arsenal view Wissa as another alternative in their striker search, with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres remaining their priority options.

The Gunners have yet to make a formal move for the 'incredible' Congolese international and may face strong competition from their North London rivals Tottenham, who appointed former Brentford boss Thomas Frank as their new head coach last week.

Wissa blossomed into one of the Premier League’s most consistent centre-forwards during his four seasons at Brentford under Frank and is coming off a career-best season, with 20 goals and five assists in 39 appearances across all competitions.

Arsenal are expected to announce Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi as their first summer signing, having reached an agreement in principle with the Spanish international last month.

According to recent reports, the Gunners will pay in excess of Zubimendi’s €60m (£51m) release clause, with the higher fee allowing them to pay in instalments.
