Newcastle United have endured a difficult start to the summer transfer window, with Premier League clubs stealing a march on their top targets.
If the first few days of the summer transfer window are anything to go by, then it will be a long couple of months for Eddie Howe.
Newcastle United promised fans a busy summer after qualifying for the Champions League, with Howe eager to get business done early to steal a march on their Premier League rivals. However, with the first week of the summer window coming to an end, there is little news on arrivals.
The Magpies were handed another blow in the transfer market on Thursday when it was revealed that Newcastle target Jarell Quansah is set to join Bayer Leverkusen, and Marc Guehi is set to be his replacement at Liverpool.
Additionally, Newcastle are facing competition from Chelsea for Brighton’s Joao Pedro after it was revealed that talks were advancing between the two clubs. As Newcastle work on other targets, a new report has shared how Eddie Howe truly feels about the start of the transfer window, and what they are hoping to do before pre-season.

Eddie Howe remains calm about Newcastle United’s transfer plans
In his post-match press conference after Newcastle confirmed their return to the Champions League, Howe claimed that this summer will be a big one for the club, and that the money is there to spend. The 47-year-old even had a transfer meeting with PIF on the same day as that Everton game, outlining what he wanted to do in the transfer market.
Newcastle have a lot of money to spend this summer, and Howe is well aware of that. According to the Chronicle, Newcastle still hope that they can get one player through the door before the start of pre-season.
The report adds that Newcastle are working tirelessly on transfers, and that Howe himself is feeling very calm about the situation.
