Newcastle United agree personal terms with top Chelsea target

Chelsea are showing strong interest to sign one Premier League attacker. But, they are joined by Newcastle United in the race. The Magpies are now reported to have taken lead in the race as they agree personal terms with the player.

Chelsea have signed Liam Delap as new striker. He costed them Β£30 million due to which they are eyeing another striker deal. But, the Blues want a different profile this time. They want a versatile attacker who will come as replacement for Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix.

The West London club were showing interest in Hugo Ekitike. But, he has been made available for €100 million. The Blues are unwilling to spend this amount and hence are monitoring other players. One of them is Joao Pedro. He is 23 years old and plays for Brighton & Hove Albion.

However, Chelsea are not the only club keen to sign Pedro. He is wanted by their rivals Newcastle United. The Magpies are back in Champions League and hence are keen to improve their squad. They find Pedro as perfect fit due to his age, quality and versatality.

Newcastle United take lead in race for Joao Pedro

According to UOL Esporte via Caught Offside, Newcastle have taken lead over Chelsea in race for Joao Pedro. The Magpies have reached an agreement with the 23 year old on personal terms. Hence, the chances of Brazilian ending up at Stamford Bridge have decreased.

Earlier, it was reported that Brighton will demand Β£70 million for Pedro. They are ready to let him leave if their demands are met. The Seagulls are known for selling their top talents for high prices. Pedro will surely be the next in that list but as of now interested clubs are trying to bring his valuation down. Chelsea will now have to look at other players in the market.
