Florian Wirtz is on the brink of becoming one of Liverpool's highest earners, with a salary nearly quadruple that of Luis Diaz.
The attacking midfielder is finalizing a £116 million ($156.6 million) transfer from German team Bayer Leverkusen, making him not only the most expensive signing in Liverpool's history but also one of the squad's top earners.
The current record for Liverpool's priciest acquisition is held by striker Darwin Nunez, who was signed from Benfica in 2022 for a potential total of £85 million ($114.8 million) with add-ons. However, Wirtz will soon shatter this record when he signs his contract.
The 22-year-old's reported five-year deal is expected to bring him a handsome weekly wage of £200,000 ($270,000), plus bonuses, according to Fabrizio Romano.
To give some context, this is almost four times the £55,000 ($74,000) weekly wage that Diaz currently earns, as per Spotrac.
Mohamed Salah is presently the club's highest earner, reportedly pocketing £400,000 ($540,000) per week due to his new contract, while Capology suggests that Virgil van Dijk takes home around £350,000 ($472,000) per week under his own new deal.
If the rumor mill is accurate, Wirtz will also out-earn Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch, both of whom reportedly earn £150,000 ($202,000) per week.

Following a successful Premier League campaign, manager Arne Slot has quickly moved to bolster his squad ahead of the 2025/26 title defence. At the end of May, Slot secured the signing of full-back Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen on a five-year deal, after activating the 24-year-old's release clause following Trent Alexander-Arnold's departure to Real Madrid.
It appears he's eager to further strengthen his defence with the potential acquisition of Crystal Palace center-back Marc Guehi. Although Liverpool has not yet submitted a formal offer for Guehi, it could be in the driving seat to secure his services if it decides to proceed.
The 24-year-old is approaching the final year of his contract with the Eagles, but landing his signature won't be straightforward, as Newcastle found out last summer when it had four offers rejected.
Wirtz's arrival could mark the first of two occasions Liverpool shatters its own transfer record this summer, with Slot rumored to be targeting Newcastle striker Alexander Isak.
The Swedish star has been a revelation in the Premier League since his move from Real Sociedad to St James' Park in 2022, scoring an impressive 62 goals in 109 appearances.
Liverpool's interest in the 25-year-old Newcastle ace is no secret, but prising him away from St. James' Park won't come cheap. The Reds would have to cough up a staggering £150 million ($202 million), given his contract runs until 2028 and Newcastle's hefty valuation of him this summer.
Eddie Howe has made it crystal clear he wants his key man to stay put, emphasising his importance to the team by saying: "Alex is under contract, we love him to bits, and we want him to stay. We want him to keep scoring goals for Newcastle for many years. That's my plan."
