Liverpool have already found themselves as one of the busiest Premier League teams in the 2025-26 summer transfer window.
Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz are on the cusp of completing their Liverpool moves, with Jeremie Frimpong’s switch already getting confirmed.
This summer transfer window has already been full of change, and since it’s still young, there’s plenty of time for things to turn on their head.

Marc Guehi is the latest player linked with a move to Arne Slot’s team, but it isn’t the Englishman who Liverpool are set to go toe-to-toe with their Premier League rivals for this summer.
Liverpool are now in talks to sign Jorell Hato from Ajax
At the moment, Liverpool’s back four is the area of Slot’s squad that has changed the most.
Most of the rumours that seem to be cropping up are related to their defensive line, and at the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what Slot’s back four could look like on the opening day of the Premier League season.
And, as per a fresh report from journalist Duncan Castles, it seems like Jorrel Hato has made his way back onto the Reds’ shortlist this summer.
“There have been direct conversations between Liverpool and Hato over joining the Premier League champions this summer, and those talks are taking place with the knowledge of Ajax, who are open to selling the player,” he said on The Transfers Podcast.

“I think top European clubs missed an opportunity last summer when Ajax were struggling both on the field and financially, where Hato could have been picked up on a far cheaper deal, potentially with a loan back to Ajax, but nobody took that opportunity.
“Now we have a situation where Liverpool are looking at the player, with Arsenal and Chelsea also seriously interested in him.”
Which of Jorell Hato or Marc Guehi would be a better fit for Liverpool
Over the last week or so, there have been so many transfer rumours to have emerged from Anfield that it’s been hard to keep up.
However, there has been one main rumour that has caught the attention of many, and that is the potential transfer of Guehi.
The Englishman has been one of Crystal Palace’s best players over the last few years, but since he’s entering the final 12 months of his contract, rumours are starting to crop up regarding his future.
It’s clear to see why Liverpool would be interested in the centre-back, especially since Crystal Palace only want around £45million for their captain this summer.
On the other hand, however, Hato would maybe be the smarter choice of the two for Liverpool because he’s much more versatile.

Throughout his career, the Dutchman has been used at both centre-back and left-back, which, as shown by Slot’s signing of Frimpong, will no doubt play in his favour.
The fact that he’s also been called “special” by his former manager, John van ‘t Schip, also outlines how good of a player Hato actually is.
Slot prefers his players to be versatile so that when players get injured, there are always people to cover them.
Of course, only time will tell what the future holds, but on the face of things, Hato seems to be the best move for Liverpool, even if Guehi has had plenty of Premier League experience.
