Luis Sinisterra sent a “thank you” message to fans on social media after another injury-hit season for Bournemouth.

The Cherries took the Premier League by storm last term and were firmly in the European conversation for the majority of the campaign, before a late-season slump saw them drop to a ninth-placed finish.

Bournemouth climbed as high as fifth at two separate points as Andoni Iraola‘s side broke their top-flight points record for the second straight year, but failure to qualify for Europe has now had consequences.

Real Madrid swooped in to trigger Dean Huijsen’s £50million release clause and completed his signing before last season had even concluded, and Bournemouth expect a number of other key men to depart.

Sinisterra sends thanks after season to forget at Bournemouth

A number of Cherries players have massively enhanced their reputations in the last 12 months, with Milos Kerkez, Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo all set to command sizeable price tags this summer.

Another wide player who hasn’t had the same impact, however, is Sinisterra, who was limited to just 14 appearances in all competitions last season and made a solitary start in their Premier League campaign.

Sinisterra may have scored a momentous late winner against Everton last August, but that was as good as things got for the Colombian in a season dominated by losses of form and several injury setbacks.

After turning 26 on 17 June in his home country, Sinisterra took to Instagram (19 June) to thank fans for his well-wishes and said: “Thank you all for making this an unforgettable day!”

Sinsiterra’s former Leeds United team-mate Wilfried Gnonto and international compatriot Luis Diaz both liked the post, as did a heavily-linked Liverpool transfer target in the form of Rafael Leao.

Sinisterra safe as Bournemouth exodus continues

With Huijsen quickly followed out of the exit door at Dean Court by Burnley-bound Jaidon Anthony, Bournemouth are braced for other players to depart before the summer transfer window closes.

Kerkez is likely to be the next player who waves goodbye with the Hungary left-back on the brink of a £40million move to Liverpool, while Premier League clubs are also queuing up to sign Semenyo.

Sinisterra’s controversial move to the Vitality Stadium from Leeds is yet to yield many tangible results for Bournemouth’s £20m investment, and it’s unclear if he’ll be able to turn things around next season.
