West Ham Lining Up‘Initial Loan To Buy Offer’For£35M Rated Shot-stopper Who Maresca“Wanted”At Chelsea

West Ham are hoping to sign Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, according to reports.

Hammers News claim that the London club are putting together an “initial loan to buy offer” for the Denmark international.

Hermansen is very strong with the ball at his feet, which is an attribute that head coach Graham Potter needs to implement his style of play.

The 24-year-old is not a bad shot stopper either, having impressed when facing the Hammers during the Foxes’ 3-1 win at the King Power Stadium last December.

Another Premier League club has targeted Hermansen

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca worked with the Dane during his one season in charge at Leicester, and the Italian was believed to be keen on bringing him to Stamford Bridge. Speaking last year, former Foxes winger Matt Piper said:

“Maresca wanted to take him [Hermansen] to Chelsea, that deal did not get done. But I am sure Enzo will still be looking at him. The contrast between the two [Robert Sanchez and Hermansen], Hermansen is wonderful with the ball at his feet.”

Hermansen is seemingly no longer a target for Maresca, with the Blues having tried to sign AC Milan’s Mike Maignan in recent weeks.

Why are West Ham expected to table a loan offer?

Even before his exploits in the Premier League for Leicester, Hermansen’s asking price was high, and it is believed it may cost as much as £35m to secure the keeper‘s services this summer.

The Irons are not in a position to spend that sort of money, especially as they also have plenty of other positions to strengthen.

It remains to be seen whether loan bid would be accepted, although the club may try and similar formula to the one that led to Jean-Clair Todibo moving from Nice last August. The centre-back’s transfer was made permanent based on certain conditions.
