David Moyes wasn’t able to work with Orel Mangala much at Everton after the Olympique Lyon midfielder picked up a season-ending injury at Goodison Park.

The Toffees signed the 27-year-old from the Ligue 1 outfit on loan last summer, and he was arguably one of the best players under Sean Dyche.

Moyes has lost Abdoulaye Doucoure ahead of next season, and the head coach should ask for midfield reinforcement this transfer window.

While Carlos Alcaraz’s move from Flamengo has been made permanent, the Blues could arguably use more quality options in their engine room for further progress in the Premier League next season.

The news outlet revealed (19 June) that the midfielder with 23 Belgium caps is working on his return to action alongside VfB Stuttgart forward Silas in the offices of his agents, M-Soccermanagement.

After picking up an ACL injury at the Merseyside outfit, Mangala returned to Lyon to continue his recovery, and it will be interesting to see when he can start playing again.

If there’s a chance for the 27-year-old to return to action before the end of the year, it would make sense for The Friedkin Group (TFG) to work on his return and stun Moyes with his signing.

The Scottish manager was able to bring out the best in most of the players, but didn’t have the chance to work with the Belgian midfielder.

With the Scottish manager looking to make further progress at the Blues next season, someone like the Lyon star could arguably play an important role once he’s back to full fitness.

Moyes may lose Idrissa Gueye soon as negotiations regarding his new contract have hit a standstill, and several teams are looking to sign the midfielder as a free agent.

Everton are yet to make any concrete additions to their team this summer, and fans will undoubtedly be worried as other Premier League outfits get to work.

James Garner’s performances in recent months have been encouraging, but his supporters will be concerned about his ongoing fitness issues.

Harrison Armstrong has shown great potential during his loan spell at Derby County, and it will be interesting to see whether the Scottish manager will incorporate him into the Blues’ plans for next season.

TFG were eyeing Liam Delap’s signing ahead of the Toffees’ move to Bramley-Moore Dock, but the former Ipswich Town striker opted to join Chelsea instead.

Mangala proved his worth during his time at Goodison Park, and it wouldn’t be a gamble to pursue another loan spell for the Belgian national this summer.
