Through his media and investment firm, Boardroom, Durant will also act as a strategic advisor for PSG’s multi-sport expansion — particularly its potential move into basketball.
QSI has expressed interest in launching a basketball franchise in Paris as part of the NBA’s potential “NBA Europe” project. The proposed league, championed by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, would feature franchises in major European markets like Paris and London, with discussions ongoing about how to align with or compete against EuroLeague.
Durant’s new stake follows his prior indirect investment through private equity firm Arctos Sports Partners. While the financial value of his latest investment is similar, this move gives Durant a more direct role, including strategic input on PSG’s global branding and potential basketball initiatives. He will work closely with QSI to develop commercial, investment, and media strategies — and possibly shape the NBA’s European debut.
PSG, already a multi-sport brand with teams in soccer, handball, and judo, is exploring new stadium locations with ambitions to build a modern sports-entertainment complex akin to SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Durant’s involvement may extend to advising on this new arena, adding another layer to his influence.
With NBA Europe on the horizon and PSG looking to become a central player, Durant’s role could be pivotal — both as an investor and potentially even as a future player or executive in European basketball’s next chapter.
