Antony is prepared to take a 30 per cent wage cut to leave Manchester United in this summer's transfer window, boosting Real Betis' chances of re-signing the winger.

The Manchester Evening News understands Antony currently earns £150,000-a-week at Old Trafford and that he is prepared to lower his salary expectations in order to leave the club this summer.

United have identified the Brazilian as one of three players they would like to sell as a priority this summer alongside Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho. United need to sell Antony for £32.58million to avoid a loss under the profit and sustainability rules (PSR).

Antony has created a market for himself after an impressive loan spell at Real Betis in the second half of last season. He scored nine goals and registered five assists in 26 appearances, helping them reach the Europa Conference League final.

After booking their place in the final in early-May, Betis president Angel Haro confirmed the La Liga outfit wanted to retain Antony and extend his loan by a further year, confirming talks would take place to see if a deal could be thrashed out.

However, United would prefer to oversee a permanent exit for Antony this summer, making the situation a lot less clear-cut from a Betis perspective.

Haro told El Partidazo: "Keeping Antony as our own is very, very complicated. We'll have a meeting with Manchester United to extend the loan for another year, to be able to share a percentage of the player.

"It's about seeing the willingness of the player and Manchester United. The first filter is set by Manchester, and then the negotiation of the player would come, but that’s a long way off.

"Besides, the player is now fully engaged, wanting to win a title with Betis. When the time comes and the season ends, he'll be able to do his part if this option opens up."

News of Antony being prepared to take a 30 per cent pay cut this summer could strengthen Betis' chances of re-signing the former Ajax man.

It has been widely reported in recent weeks that midfielder Johnny Cardoso could leave Betis to join Spanish rivals Atletico Madrid in a deal that could be worth around €30m (£25.6m).

If that was to come to fruition, Betis could use the money generated from that sale to put towards attempting to re-sign Antony.

It remains to be seen if Betis will be able to produce an offer in line with United's demands for Antony to re-sign him on a permanent basis, but news of him being prepared to take a pay cut could boost their chances of signing him and the Reds' chances of offloading him.
