Monaco have made a first survey for Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana, which could make United then turn to Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi.
That’s according to journalist Gianluca di Marzio, who reports that Monaco are moving for 29-year-old Onana this summer.
He explains that if the goalkeeper were to leave Old Trafford, Manchester United already have a suitor lined up. The player that they like most is Carnesecchi.
Indeed, they have held the first contacts with the Atalanta goalkeeper and his agent, but not the Italian club. Atalanta are unlikely to let him leave unless there truly satisfactory offers.
Tuttomercatoweb say the same, reporting that Carnesecchi is being followed by Manchester United this summer.
They have identified the 24-year-old as a possible heir to Onana. Should he depart, signing the Italian goalkeeper will become a priority.
A possible offer worth around worth around €40m is being considered. That is €10m short of the €50m that Atalanta have initially requested, though. Atalanta are likely to be interested in a sale as he represents a full capital gain as he grew up in the youth ranks at the club.
But losing him alongside other big players such as Ademola Lookman and Ederson will likely make them push for as big a fee as possible.
