Arsenal linked with transfer push for Chelsea winger Madueke

Arsenal could make a surprise transfer swoop for England international Noni Madueke - according to the latest reports. The Telegraph states that the Gunners are keeping a close eye on transfer developments at Stamford Bridge this summer, aware that the seven-cap forward could slip down the pecking order as the Blues continue their heavy recruitment drive.

Madueke was a regular for Enzo Maresca's side last season, making 42 appearances in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and notching five assists. The report argues that the Blues star isn't up for sale - and has not been offered to clubs - but rival top-flight teams reckon Madueke could be obtainable this summer.

Newcastle United were linked with a move back in January, but the latest reports claim the 23-year-old is also on Arsenal's radar. Mikel Arteta's squad are understood to be keen on bolstering their options in attack, with the likes of Nico Williams and Real Madrid star Rodrygo linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium in recent months.

The report adds the Gunners have touched based with a number of prospective transfer targets and, therefore, it remains hard to judge the level of interest in Madueke. Chelsea have not received an approach from Arsenal, according to the report, but the Gunners, the Magpies and Tottenham Hotspur are on the hunt for wide players this summer.

Pedro Neto was Maresca's first choice out on the right-flank towards the end of last season, with Madueke forced out on to the left-hand side of the pitch, at least at times. The Blues reported interest in Jamie Gittens would add further competition for places out on the left and, seemingly, push Madueke even further down the pecking order.

Arteta's side have been linked with moves for the likes of Nico Williams and Rodrygo, but interest in Madueke is a fresh development. The two clubs may be London rivals, but they have done business in the past with Kai Havertz and Jorginho sealing permanent moves with the Gunners, while Raheem Sterling made to loan switch last summer.
