In the midst of reports that Liverpool want to sign Marc Guehi to replace Jarrel Quansah, the Englishman is set to move to Bayer Leverkusen if terms can be agreed.
And in doing so, Liverpool are also reducing the cost of signing Florian Wirtz after agreeing to pay £100m up front and £16m in add-ons. The club transfer record deal has attracted a lot of scrutiny but the Reds are sure he will be a game-changer.
The German international’s 16 goals and 15 assists for Leverkusen this season would mightily improve Liverpool’s ability to create chances from central positions.
Quansah, however, failed to motivate Arne Slot to include him in his plans for the future and sadly, he has been deemed surplus to requirements but a move to the Bundesliga would be a fantastic place to find regular game time and a new challenge to continue his development.
Liverpool can agree a deal to sell Quansah in the next 24 hours with final stages of negotiations reached
Liverpool are on the verge of agreeing terms to sell Quansah to Leverkusen, according to Fabrizio Romano, with the player reportedly giving his approval to the transfer.
A fee of between £30m and £35m is likely.
Romano reports on Twitter: “Jarell Quansah deal can be agreed in the next 24/48h as Bayer Leverkusen and Liverpool are at final stages of negotiations.
“Quansah already said yes; understand final fee can be around £30m plus £5m add-ons.”

Richard Hughes continues to impress in his role as sporting director in groundbreaking Liverpool summer window
Liverpool have surpassed expectations in a major way for the second time in a year. The Reds surprised every pundit and journalist with their title win and have now sent another huge message with their transfer activity in the early weeks of the summer window.
Liverpool have agreed or completed deals for Giorgi Mamardashvili (last summer), Jeremie Frimpong (signed), Florian Wirtz (agreed) and Milos Kerkez (agreed) and should still follow that up with a striker and centre-back.
Selling Quansah for £35m after an unimpressive season is great work and may have been part of Leverkusen’s negotiations during Wirtz talks but all in all, very sound work from Richard Hughes.
After a quiet summer window before the start of this season, the sporting director was the focus of supporters’ frustration at the lack of signings.
Now, the planning behind their inactivity has been revealed and Hughes is rightly getting all the praise he deserves.
