Report: Everton could cause major Chelsea upset after talks held for £45m winger

Everton find themselves being linked with a number of wingers this summer.

Following the exit of Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison, David Moyes is in desperate need of some new additions to his squad.

The Friedkins want to make a statement signing for Everton this summer, but it is clear that the player has to be the right fit for the club.

Everton need additions all over their squad, but right-wing was certainly a clear area for improvement throughout the 2024/25 campaign.

Simon Jordan has questioned Everton’s interest in Jack Grealish, with the presenter unsure whether Moyes would like the forward’s character.

But there are a number of other options which Everton could look at this summer and there’s one on their radar that is of interest across England.

Everton could battle Chelsea for Lyon’s Malick Fofana

Despite the new recruitment team landing on Merseyside, Moyes has wanted a new winger for Everton ever since he returned in January.

Iliman Ndiaye proved a real shining light, but his injury highlighted a real need to bolster the options at Moyes’ disposal.

It is claimed the French side are looking for a fee in the region of £45m this summer, with Chelsea having already held talks.

But there are plenty of potential suitors in England, with the following clubs all credited with interest:

Newcastle

Tottenham

Fulham

Brighton & Hove Albion

Everton are prioritising attacking additions this summer and will want to recreate the success they had with signing Ndiaye last summer.

Although there are plenty of clubs showing an interest in Fofana, he would be keen to stay at Lyon, but there is one potential deciding factor over his future.

Everton could use John Textor connection to land Fofana

Everton fans will be all too aware of who John Textor is following his failed attempt to purchase the club.

Amid the attempt to buy the Toffees falling through, Lyon and Everton dealt over Orel Mangala with a season-long loan.

Lyon are said to be open to selling Fofana this summer as they need to generate some funds, and this could fall perfectly into Everton’s hands.

But it is clear the Blues will have to beat some serious competition if they are going to land the 20-year-old winger.
