Everton are looking to hold on to Jarrad Branthwaite this summer amid interest from rival Premier League clubs.

The Toffees are keen to repel interest in their star centre-back from the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham, who are both widely reported to be keen on bringing Branthwaite to London.

David Moyes‘ squad is already down in numbers, and the Scotsman will not take too kindly to losing another key player as he prepares for the hotly anticipated move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

It is thought that a £90million bid would be needed to sway Everton, and recent talks suggest they are hopeful of retaining Branthwaite.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The Toffees are expected to offer the 22-year-old a bumper deal to stay on Merseyside as they aim to build around the talented England international.

Branthwaite’s performances alongside compatriots Jordan Pickford and James Tarkowski have proved vital to Everton’s Premier League survival in the last two seasons.

However, the Toffees are now looking to push on, and ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes Branthwaite could be offered £150,000-a-week to stay put.

“Moyes wants to keep his best players,” King said.

“Branthwaite is definitely one of Everton’s best players, and he is also homegrown. He’ll be an essential part of the rebuild under Moyes.

“Therefore, I’d imagine he will be made a very good contract offer. Based on the kind of money Everton want for Branthwaite, they’ve got to be offering £150,000-per-week to the player.”

Everton would make a statement of intent by keeping Branthwaite

The Friedkin Group arrived with lofty hopes and ambitions, but are yet to stay true to their words as the Blues are yet to bring in a new face this summer.

It has left Everton supporters anxious ahead of a pivotal season, but their minds would be put to rest were Branthwaite to sign a new contract.

It would not only help their prospects for next year but would also show a statement of intent that Everton and the hierarchy are serious about returning closer to where they belong: near the top of the table.
