A former NBA center underwent emergency surgery after breaking a hip in a fall from his motorcycle.
The [Associated Press reported Friday](https://apnews.com/article/vlade-divac-nba-injury-motorcycle-hip-7fd52114fd9dc910737c480602c71555) that 7-foot-1 Serbian big man Vlade Divac was injured in a crash that occurred on a road near the Adriatic Sea in Montenegro. An artificial hip was implanted during the surgery.
“During the day, a surgical procedure was performed,” Ljubica Mitrovic, a spokeswoman of the hospital in Risan told the AP. “He is in a stable general and physical condition and is under a careful supervision of the medical staff.”
Divac, a pioneering European player in the NBA, is best known for his time with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Sacramento Kings but he also played for the Charlotte Hornets.
He spent 16 years in the league and was an All-Star in 2001 before later serving as GM of the Kings.
Divac, 57, was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019. He also served two terms as head of Serbia’s Olympic Committee.
