Liverpool have had a busy summer transfer window so far as they look to further bolster their squad on the back of winning the Premier League.
The Reds have already signed Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen. Liverpool have also agreed a £127m deal for Florian Wirtz, with the player completing his medical with the club on Friday ahead of an imminent move.
Arne Slot’s side is also expected to sign Milos Kerkez, while they intend to sign a new striker as well.
They are also engaged in contract talks with some of their star players, including Ibrahima Konate and Luis Diaz. However, TBR Football now reports that the club are now backing away from contract talks with Diaz.

Liverpool back away from Luis Diaz contract talks
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has claimed that Liverpool have backed away from contract talks with Diaz and that the Colombian will move to Saudi Arabia.
Diaz has wanted to sign a new Liverpool contract since last year, and his representatives believed that his form this past season would signal a new deal.
And for Bailey, the club not giving him a new contract as yet is an indication that Diaz will be leave, with the club hoping to sell him to Saudi Pro League, along with Darwin Nunez.
Speaking to TBR Football, Bailey said: “Liverpool have backed away from contract talks with him. My belief in talking to people in Saudi I think Luis Diaz is going to Saudi Arabia this summer.
“I do. I think that’s going to happen. I don’t necessarily think purely because of Wirtz but you know Wirtz will end up playing there. They’ve got Gakpo as well. I think the fact that Liverpool have backed away from him and Diaz is not on a lot of money.
“We’re referring there to a contract where and and I’ll be honest, I think Diaz does deserve a new contract. He was phenomenal for them last season. He has been for 18 months before that when he was agitating for Barcelona.
“For Liverpool not to give him that contract this summer, I think that maybe tells us something. And yeah, I think Diaz will leave. Him and Nunez I think Liverpool would like them both to go to Saudi, but I do think they both will leave.”
Selling Luis Diaz could be a mistake
Diaz joined Liverpool in January 2022 and has since then established himself as a key part of the Liverpool team.
The Colombian played a significant role in helping the Reds secure their 20th Premier League title, stepping up during crucial phases of the campaign.
His most notable contribution came during Diogo Jota’s absence, where he showcased his versatility by operating as a false nine. Díaz scored eight goals and provided one assist in a 14-game stretch, underlining his importance.

Centre-Forward 14 8 1

He finished the season in excellent form, coming up clutch in the final run-in with four goals and three assists in his last nine appearances, helping Liverpool clinch the title.
While Cody Gakpo also had a standout season on the left wing, Díaz brings a different dimension to the attack with his direct running, quick feet, and flair, consistently troubling defenders one-on-one.
However, with Liverpool expected to invest heavily in a new striker, they may need to consider player sales to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), which is why they could be willing to sell Diaz.
