Shedeur Sanders after 2 speeding tickets: ‘I’ve made some wrong choices ... I learn from them’

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders, cited twice for speeding in the past two weeks, said Thursday night that he’s learned from his mistakes.

Sanders, the Browns’ fifth-round pick in the NFL draft, was cited for speeding twice on I-71 over the past two weeks by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Once was for going 91 mph in a 65 mph zone in Brunswick Hills on June 5, and once was for going 101 mph in a 60 mph zone in Strongsville on Tuesday.

“I’ve made some wrong choices,” Sanders told a friend at David Njoku’s Celebrity Softball Game at Classic Auto Group Park in Eastlake on Thursday night.

Sanders did not speak to media at the softball game, but the friend shot video of Sanders’ remarks and posted them to his own X account.

“I can own up to it. I’ve made some not great choices (in life). I learn from them,” Sanders says on the video.

Sanders failed to appear in court on Monday for the June 5 ticket, according to Medina Municipal Court records.

The first ticket, with $269 in fines, came on the last day of Browns organized team activities. The second one, with $250 in fines, came during the Browns’ rookie orientation, which ends Friday.

Sanders, competing with Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel for the starting job, has almost a month off before rookies report to training camp July 18.

The Browns have declined to comment other than to say that Sanders is taking care of the tickets.
