After a promising loan spell at Aston Villa, Rashford sees Barca as the ideal next step.
Especially as they search for attacking reinforcements.
But despite his desire, the move now appears to have collapsed.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are unwilling to meet the asking price to sign Rashford.
Rashford’s hopes have also been hugely dashed due to the expected arrival of Nico Williams at Barca.
The United attacker had positioned himself as a versatile alternative to both Williams and Luis Diaz.

Capable of playing across the front three.
Barca’s technical team saw him as a potential stand-in for Lewandowski too.
Hence the loan fee that was offered to United in late May.
However, the club’s financial situation remains a major obstacle.
United were open to selling Rashford for around €30 million according to Mundo Deportivo.
However, that price tag has proven too steep for the Catalan giants.

A loan was discussed, especially with Rashford willing to take a financial hit.
However, Mundo Deportivo say no agreement was reached.
He had first appeared on Barca’s radar in the January window.
Although talks never advanced due to the club’s salary cap constraints.
Rashford, who tallied 11 goals and 8 assists in 41 appearances last season, is now weighing other options while holidaying in Marbella.
There remains a chance that Rashford remains in Premier League, should Villa suddenly decide the wages are an obstacle worth overcoming.
