The altercation took place on May 27 at JokerStars in Houston, Texas.

The 2012 NFL MVP had a disagreement with one of his friends at the gaming table, which quickly escalated. Moments later, the two began exchanging punches. In the video, Peterson’s friend landed several blows on the former running back before the tide turned, with Peterson landing a series of haymakers of his own.

“Me and the guy, we’re cool,” Peterson said. “We’ve known each other. It was literally like a brother situation. We agreed to disagree, we had our words, and we threw blows — and that was it.”

According to sources with knowledge of the altercation, both men sustained bloody facial wounds. However, Peterson alleges his injuries didn’t stem from the fight.

This incident isn’t the first time Peterson has made headlines for a physical altercation.

He was released shortly after on $50,000 bail.

Best known for his 10-year stint with the Minnesota Vikings, Peterson played one season with the Detroit Lions in 2020, where he rushed for 607 yards and seven touchdowns in 16 games, including 10 starts.

In addition to the Vikings and Lions, Peterson also had stints with Washington (under its former name), the Arizona Cardinals, the New Orleans Saints, the Tennessee Titans, and the Seattle Seahawks.
