William Osula is making a name for himself at Newcastle United, even if Eddie Howe is yet to give him his first Premier League start with the club.
At 21 years old, the Dane will be hoping that his club career can kick off next season, along with many Newcastle United fans who have seen glimpses of what he can do.
William Osula joined Newcastle for £10m last summer and was given rare opportunities to impress by Eddie Howe. His best performances came in the FA Cup, with a goal against Bromley and two assists against Birmingham City in the third and fourth rounds.
Osula scored his first Premier League goal in Newcastle’s 3-0 win against Ipswich Town in April, a lovely looping header which sent St James’ Park into raptures. After the game, he received praise from many on social media, including Newcastle target Anthony Elanga, who is a regular in his Instagram comments section.
Post-season, Osula has impressed with Denmark’s Under-21s, scoring three goals and bagging two assists at the Under-21 European Championships. With the Dane in good form, Osula has shared what the biggest difference between Newcastle and his former club, Sheffield United.

William Osula sees more quality at Newcastle compared to Sheffield United
Osula has begged Howe for more minutes after his bright performances at the Under-21 Euros, but he may be forced to wait for his opportunity as it looks like Newcastle will sign Joao Pedro from Brighton this summer, moving him further down the pecking order.
In the meantime, Osula will need to impress in training and work for his chance to make it into the starting XI. Thankfully, Osula appears content to wait for his chance and has even taken the time to praise Newcastle’s quality in comparison to Sheffield United, from whom he signed from.
Speaking to Danish outlet Campo about the differences between Newcastle and Sheffield United, Osula said: “Yes, you can feel that 100%. In everyday life in training and during the matches. The fact that those you play with have great quality.”

“It was also high quality at Sheffield United. They were also in the Premier League. But of course, there is a difference, also because Newcastle is a bigger club.”
Newcastle United fans want William Osula to play more next season
When given the chance, Osula has performed well for Newcastle and is showing how good he can be with Denmark Under-21s. It is clear that Osula is good enough to play consistent football for the Magpies, but Isak’s good form gives Howe little choice but to keep him out of the squad.
Fans are still waiting to hear what will happen with Callum Wilson, whose contract will expire at the end of June. Newcastle are in talks with Wilson over a new deal, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

If Wilson were to leave, Osula would surely take his place in the pecking order at Newcastle. In theory, Osula would become the second-choice striker if Pedro fails to join, although it is looking likely that he will sign.
Last season, Newcastle fans called for Osula to play over Wilson; that demand could come true by default if Wilson rejects his contract extension.
