Ruben Amorim already has 'Man Utd captain in making' among his ranks, even Bruno Fernandes tipped special 'future' –…

Ruben Amorim has one talented first-team player who could follow in the same footsteps as Bruno Fernandes by becoming Manchester United captain someday.

Bruno Fernandes became Manchester United captain under former Red Devils and Ajax boss Erik ten Hag in 2023 and has been a key influence within the first team.

Harry Maguire was stripped of the United captain’s armband under Erik ten Hag in the first place before Fernandes succeeded the England star in the role at the club.

Fernandes has maintained his place as club captain at Old Trafford, despite Ten Hag being sacked as United manager in the 2024-25 Premier League campaign.

Amorim kept the 30-year-old United midfielder in the role and Fernandes has continued to be a stellar role model both on the pitch and off it for his teammates.

Fernandes was linked with Al Hilal this summer and could have left Old Trafford, but he chose to remain at United ahead of the 2025-26 Premier League campaign.

Why it is written in the stars for Leny Yoro to become Man Utd captain under Ruben Amorim, much like Bruno Fernandes has done

Leny Yoro arrived at Old Trafford last summer under Erik ten Hag and the Frenchman was a shining light for Manchester United fans last season.

The 19-year-old French defender missed the opening months of the 2024-25 Premier League campaign due to an injury that he picked up in pre-season.

Ten Hag was sacked as United manager by the time of Leny Yoro’s return from injury and the centre-back effortlessly eased his way into Ruben Amorim’s squad.

Amorim’s tactical system for United is built for a player like Yoro, who has often been played as the left-sided centre-back in the three-man United backline.

Yoro has remarkable ball-playing ability and has been able to progress forward from the United backline, with the Red Devils star holding his own at only 19 years old.

The United defender still has a long development path ahead of him at Old Trafford, but it’s clear as day that Yoro will be a key leader in Amorim’s backline in the future.

Bruno Fernandes has even seen something special in Leny Yoro and tipped him for success at Man Utd under Ruben Amorim

Leny Yoro was able to bounce back from his pre-season injury in 2024 and the United star went on to make 33 appearances across all competitions last season.

United splashed out to sign the French defender from Ligue 1 outfit Lille for an initial fee of £52.18m, with Yoro even being linked with Real Madrid at the time.

Yoro’s stellar attributes include his maturity and the former Lille defender’s feet remain well and truly placed on the pitch, despite his early success at United.

The Red Devils talent played as the right-sided centre-back in United’s 1-0 Europa League final defeat to Tottenham at the San Mames Stadium in May.

Following United’s loss to Spurs in Spain, a crestfallen Yoro posted about the “obstacles,” the “tears” and the “lessons” from the Europa League final result.

Bruno Fernandes was spotted in the comments of Yoro’s Instagram post at the time and he said it was only the “beginning of something” in his teammate’s “future.”

Fernandes has seen the raw potential of Yoro after only one season and it wouldn’t be surprising if the former Lille ace follows in his teammate’s footsteps as captain.
