Sam Darnold Gets Honest About How Vikings’ Season Ended

The Minnesota Vikings’ 2024 season went a lot better than most people expected.

After all, most sportsbooks projected them to finish well below .500, but they ended up having one of the best records in the NFC.

Sam Darnold had the best statistical season of his career, with much thanks to his offensive line and the coaching staff he had around him, but the Vikings couldn’t get it done in the playoffs.

Despite being dominant in the regular season, Darnold and his teammates couldn’t get anything going against the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card round, losing in their first playoff game.

This loss certainly stung, and Darnold recently spoke about this and highlighted what happened, as The Athletic via “VikingzFanPage” on X noted.

“For lack of a better term, we laid an egg as an offense. And I think for me personally, that sucks… I feel like I could have played way better,” Darnold said.

In Darnold’s eyes, he and his teammates weren’t able to get anything going, which ultimately ended their season.

He will not get a chance to redeem himself in 2025, as he is the presumed new starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks.

Instead, J.J. McCarthy is taking the reins, giving the Vikings their third unique starting quarterback in as many seasons.

Their offensive line seems solid, and McCarthy should have plenty of receiving help to put himself in the best possible position.

Vikings fans are growing frustrated with the team not making it back to the Super Bowl, or even going on a deep playoff run.

Will 2025 be the year when things finally turn around?
