Once the Browns are gone, can Huntington Bank Field become Cleveland housing?

When the Cleveland Browns leave Huntington Bank Field, Cleveland has a rare opportunity to demonstrate bold leadership by repurposing it into something the city truly needs — space for housing, lakefront access, and innovation.

The city can minimize waste by incorporating these necessities into the existing structure. The proposition is unconventional yet stadiums and arenas around the world have been successfully given new life and purpose.

A proven example of how this can be accomplished comes from England. [Arsenal Stadium](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arsenal_Stadium), the former home of Arsenal Football Club, was transformed into [Emirates Stadium](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emirates_Stadium) - Highbury Square - a mixed residential complex of 725 units. The field was made into a shared garden, while the historic exterior to the east and west stands were preserved and integrated into the residential design.

Huntington Bank Field almost has double the capacity that Highbury Stadium had. There’s ample space for housing, office space for innovation, and to make the lakefront more inclusive. Let the old Browns stadium hold both the history and future of the city.
