'Not a thing': Ben Jacobs confirms recent report regarding Newcastle United and Man City star…

· 20 June 2025, 21:30

**Newcastle United have been named in some pretty outlandish transfer stories this summer, some incoming, mostly outgoing, but the reality is often very different to what we're being led to believe.**

For example, Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon are being reported as being on the verge of leaving Newcastle on a daily basis, as the media turn to sensationalist stories to drive engagement.

The truth is that Newcastle are under no pressure to sell any of their players this summer, and with a Champions League campaign coming up, as well as the mission for continuous improvement, selling top players simply isn't a strategy the club are willing to entertain.

As for incomings, we've been linked with half as many players as Chelsea, which is still an enormous amount, but as for how many are realistic, it's hard to say.

Newcastle are continually linked with Jack Grealish

One transfer link that won't seem to go away is that of Newcastle wanting Manchester City's Jack Grealish. WE've never bought into that idea, it has never made sense, and The Chronicle did confirm not too long ago that the club have no interest in the £100 million England star, and now Ben Jacobs has confirmed this stance when speaking on TalkSPORT.

> “Newcastle are just shutting up shop at the moment and saying we’ve got Champions League football. None of these assets are for sale, and our PSR position is fine,” he said.“So I think Gordon would be difficult to pull off and maybe a bit counterproductive for Newcastle, simply because you’ve got Anthony Gordon plus Harvey Barnes both in excellent form“Now we hear some reports that might give Arsenal fans hope that Jack Grealish could be heading to Newcastle, and maybe those putting two and two together and making four, or hoping that it’s four, will be saying that means that Gordon’s going, because it is true.

>

> “If Newcastle moved for a player like Grealish, they’ll have to lose one of those players on the left-hand side. But the bad news, I’m told, is two and two makes five and that Grealish and Newcastle is not a thing, and their aim is to keep hold of both Gordon and, of course, Harvey Barnes.”

We're happy with the messaging coming out of the club on this one

-----------------------------------------------------------------

While a lot of our fanbase started to turn on Anthony Gordon last season after he put in some poor shifts in the black and white, we doubt that many of those would switch him out for Jack Grealish.

Even taking out the financial aspect of signing Jack Grealish, which is beyond Newcastle's reach as things stand, he's hardly done a great deal to inspire confidence that a move would be worthwhile.

We're glad that the noises coming out of the club are consistent and that it's a hard pass on the former Aston Villa man.
