Rumors have floated that the Pittsburgh Steelers could end up trading for Miami Dolphins star cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes Ramsey will be traded before the start of NFL training camps, but says Ramsey would like to play on the West Coast, throwing a wrench if the Steelers are truly interested in Ramsey.
“The Dolphins continue to have conversations about trading Jalen Ramsey, and I think that a trade there will get done,” Schefter said on The Pat McAfee Show. “The question is, when does it get done? Does it get done next week, the week after, prior to the start of training camp? I don’t know exactly when it’s gonna be, but Jalen Ramsey will get traded. It’ll be, I would expect, before the start of training camp. We’ll see how it shakes out, where he goes. I think he would like to go to the West Coast, to the Los Angeles Chargers, somewhere like that. And we’ll see how that happens.”
Ramsey signed an extension last September with the Dolphins, but all sides agree that a trade is better for both sides. Rams head coach Sean McVay has made it clear the Rams are interested in Ramsey, who once played for the team.
The Steelers have Darius Slay and Joey Porter Jr., but Ramsey could come in and fill the team’s slot cornerback role. If that were to happen, Ramsey would likely play outside in the team’s base packages and then kick inside when they would go to their nickel packages.
