The New Orleans Saints have cut former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Xazavian Valladay, they announced on Friday.
Valladay inked a deal with the Saints in January and spent all spring with them, but will now hope to find a new team after being released.
The 26-year-old Valladayspent the latter half of the 2024 season with the Saints, signing to their practice squad in November.
In his career, Valladay has spent time around numerous teams, including the New York Jets, Houston Texans, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Saints.
He spent part of training camp with the Steelers in 2023, showcasing himself to be an explosive running back. Valladay ran a 4.46 40-yard dash with a 40-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-3-inch broad jump during the scouting process.
After the Steelers released him, the Jets snapped him up quickly. He spent the entire 2023 season on their practice squad and went to training camp with the Jets during the 2024 offseason. After initially making their practice squad, Valladay was cut and made a free agent.
An undrafted free agent out of Arizona State in 2022, the Texans signed Valladay with some significant guaranteed money, and he was thought of as one of the best undrafted free agents in the class. However, they released him just a few weeks into training camp. Valladay has yet to play in an NFL game.
