Pablo Torre accuses sports media rival Nick Wright of being ‘obsessed’ with Michael Jordan

Nick Wright and Pablo Torre have become frenemies in the sports media space who aren’t afraid to go back and forth at one another publicly. The most recent iteration of their “beef” appears to be about legendary NBA player Michael Jordan.

Wright has stood firm for years now on his stance that LeBron James, not Michael Jordan, is the “GOAT” of basketball. And whether it be for engagement, or because of a genuine dislike of Jordan, Wright has continuously tried to tear down Jordan’s legacy, in addition to throwing a jab at his new role as an NBA analyst for NBC, in recent months.

On the most recent episode of Pablo Torre Finds Out alongside Mina Kimes, Torre made light of Wright’s one-sided animosity for Jordan, explaining how he believes that Wright “has something in common with Larsa Pippen”, being “obsessed” with Jordan.

“It’s hard for me to tell,” Torre said of his relationship with Wright. “Is Nick Wright still banned from PTFO? I think the answer must be ‘Yes,’ and also, ‘Does Nick Wright have something in common with Larsa Pippen?’ I would say, ‘Yes.’ Yeah, I would say they’re both almost clinically obsessed with Michael Jordan. That seems to be a throughline, so yeah, fu*k you Nick Wright.”

This comment from Torre didn’t exactly come out of the blue. Wright actually sparked their beef again when he made a comment on a recent appearance on The Dan Le Batard Show, discussing the recent profile of Torre in New York Magazine.

Larsa Pippen factors into the fray because it was actually Wright that first brought up Pippen when he outlined how he views Torre like Torre views Pippen.

“I imagine I have the relationship with Pablo that Pablo has with Larsa Pippen,” said Wright earlier this week. “Where I don’t have anything against him. I’m kind of fascinated by him. I don’t really understand the big deal. But there is really no ill will.”

It was admittedly a pretty great zinger from Wright. So much so, that Mina Kimes actually told Torre that Wright had “got his a*s with the Pippen comment.

“He got your a*s,” said Kimes. “Let’s just call it what it is. He got your a*s.”

As much as it pains me to praise @getnickwright he absolutely owned him https://t.co/LNTrqM8ITq

Clearly, whether you believe there is really any animosity between Wright and Torre, the small digs at one another don’t have an end in sight. And this was quite clear, at least from Torre, when he alluded to Wright being “jealous” of people who are more creative than him, which Torre claims to be.

“I just think that Nick Wright and I are both jealous of people who are more ambitious and more creative than us, and that’s how I feel about The Rehearsal, and that’s clearly how he feels about this show,” Torre said on Thursday’s edition of Pablo Torre Finds Out. “So the ultimate compliment – the ultimate compliment is that I want to be more like The Rehearsal, I think.”
