Brentford's Christian Norgaard could be on Arsenal's radar during this transfer window.

The 31 year old midfielder, who inked a new deal with the Bees earlier this year, has two years remaining on his contract.

However, he is among the potential midfield recruits that the Gunners might pursue this summer as they aim to strengthen their central field.

Arsenal are on the brink of securing Spanish midfielder Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, but may face the loss of Thomas Partey, whose contract expires this month and has not yet agreed to an extension with the club.

The Ghanaian made 52 appearances in all competitions for Mikel Arteta's side last season, and his exit would leave a gap in the holding midfield role.

This comes on the heels of Italy international Jorginho's departure from the club this summer. He has joined Brazilian team Flamengo after spending two-and-a-half years with Arsenal, and played a key role in their FIFA Club World Cup triumph over Chelsea on Friday night.

Norgaard joined Brentford in 2019 and was part of the squad that clinched Premier League promotion through the play-offs in 2021, reports the Mirror.

As the Bees' captain, he has been instrumental in securing five consecutive seasons of Premier League football for the club.

Last season, under former head coach Thomas Frank, who has since moved to Tottenham Hotspur to replace Ange Postecoglou, Norgaard made 34 Premier League appearances.

Norgaard has been a consistent presence in the Danish national team in recent seasons. Brentford, however, would command a hefty sum for their captain, with other star players such as Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa also drawing attention from other clubs.

Yet, considering his age, if Arsenal were to express interest and Norgaard was keen on one last significant move as his career nears its end, then the Bees might be willing to let him go for a reduced fee.
