Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber has revealed that the Gunners are preparing for a busy summer transfer window, with the club expected to make several signings to strengthen squad depth ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Speaking on the Matchday podcast, as reported by Voetbal Primeur, the 24-year-old Dutch international suggested that Arsenal’s activity in the market will be significant, following a challenging 2024/25 campaign that saw key players sidelined through injury.
“It will definitely be a busy one for Arsenal,” Timber said. “I think we’ll get a lot of players, because we had so many injuries last season. At one point, we almost had no players left. So, they definitely want to get players for the depth.”

His comments have excited supporters eager to see reinforcements brought in, especially after Arsenal finished second in the Premier League for a third consecutive season and reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Injuries to players like Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz, Gabriel Magalhães, and Timber himself exposed the lack of depth in Mikel Arteta’s squad. Timber, who signed from Ajax in a £34 million deal in July 2023, suffered a torn ACL on his Premier League debut and missed the majority of the 2023/24 season. However, he returned in strong form the following campaign, making 48 appearances in 2024/25 and earning The Athletic’s Arsenal Player of the Year award for his impressive displays across the backline.
Despite undergoing a minor ankle procedure at the end of the season, Timber is expected to be fully fit for pre-season and ready to play a key role once again.

His remarks come as Arsenal begin to accelerate their summer transfer plans. The club have already secured the signing of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi in a £55 million deal, with all documents finalised on Friday. The addition marks a strong start to the Gunners’ recruitment drive under new sporting director Andrea Berta.
Arsenal’s transfer priorities are understood to include a marquee striker, with Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško both high on the club’s wishlist. A backup goalkeeper is also being sought following Neto’s return to Bournemouth.
With ambitions of finally ending their long wait for a Premier League title, Arsenal appear determined to build a deeper and more resilient squad, one capable of competing on all fronts. And if Timber’s prediction is anything to go by, the Emirates could be a hive of transfer activity in the coming weeks.
