Former NBA player Kris Humphries opens new chicken restaurant in Rochester

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – A new chicken restaurant opened in Rochester Friday, and one of the co-founders may have a pretty recognizable name.

Former NBA player Kris Humphries, along with his cousin, Alex, opened up Dave’s Hot Chicken in the southeast part of the Med City. This is the first location to open outside of the Twin Cities, where four locations exist.

The restaurant offers different kinds of Nashville-Hot style chicken tenders and sliders. During the new location’s opening on Friday, many flocked to the restaurant to check everything out.

“That’s what people think,” Kris said about people who think the chicken is all spicy. “They think it’s like ‘I don’t like spicy food’ like my mom. She’ll go out to eat and be like ‘I want no spice,’ so we have different spice levels.”

Alex said the highest level of spice is not something to take lightly.

“You can get it from no spice all the way up to the reaper, which you’ll need to sing a waiver for,” he said.

Both Kris and Alex also used to own the Five Guys in Rochester.
