Allen Robinson Revealed Ben Johnson’s Hidden Strength Nobody Knows

Chicago Bears fans remember Allen Robinson for the great few years he gave the organization at the end of the 2010s. He was instrumental to the team’s 2018 division championship. Sadly, things never quite coalesced after that. The quarterback situation floundered and Robinson became less productive. Most people remember his exit in 2022, signing with the defending champion Los Angeles Rams. After that, he faded into the background. Robinson spent 2023 with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Almost nobody knew he resurfaced last year with the Detroit Lions. That means he has the unique perspective of playing in Chicago and for their new head coach. That is why Dan Wiederer and Mark Grote brought him onto the Take The North podcast. They wanted to hear what he had to say about Johnson. Robinson confirmed what has already become clear about the young coach. He’s smart, intense, and does a great job holding players accountable. However, he manages to do something else that some coaches can’t.

He gets players to hold each other accountable, too.

Allen Robinson knows how important this is.

After all, he spent most of his career playing for head coaches who never quite mastered the art. It never happened in Jacksonville. Matt Nagy initially seemed to have it in Chicago, but he lost it once things got tough. Pittsburgh and Detroit were his first tastes. Unfortunately, his ability had eroded by that point. He was never a big factor with the Lions. Still, Johnson clearly left a big impression. One of the biggest issues with the Bears was accountability. Coaches didn’t hold players to it enough, and the same was true of players with each other. Lovie Smith was never perfect, but he was excellent at establishing a locker room of high standards. If guys didn’t give their best, leaders like Urlacher, Kreutz, and Briggs descended on them. It seems Allen Robinson knows Johnson is hoping to do the same.
