All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Chelsea as they continue their efforts in the United States.

Chelsea returned to action on Friday night for second game of their FIFA Club World Cup campaign, and behind the scenes, the work continues on new signings. Enzo Maresca is expected to get a handful of new weapons this summer as the Blues gear up for a potential title charge.

The Blues have already signed a striker, but they could yet sign another, while they also need a centre-back, goalkeeper and a winger before the start of the season. Here we round up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Stamford Bridge.

Joao Pedro ‘latest’

Chelsea are one of the contenders to sign Brighton forward Joao Pedro, according to Fabrizio Romano, who has spoken about the potential transfer saga on his You Tube channel. He said: “Joao Pedro is going to leave - expected to leave. He is open to leaving Brighton in the summer transfer window. Let’s see what happens with the clubs. Newcastle already tried to sign Joao Pedro before he joined Brighton. A deal was done verbally but it collapsed for different reasons. Now he remains a player on the list of the recruitment team at Newcastle.

“They want Joao Pedro at Newcastle. They made contact with Brighton, as was reported in England in recent days, but there is still no club-to-club agreement. What I can confirm is Joao Pedro is on Chelsea’s list.”

Maresca shuts down rumour

Chelsea boss Maresca has moved to shut down transfer rumours involving winger Noni Madueke. It was claimed earlier this week that Chelsea would listen to offers for Madueke this summer as they look to improve out wide.

But Maresca is having none of that, moving to shut down the rumour ahead of Friday’s game with Flamengo. He said: “Noni is our player. In this moment, you can read much speculation about many players, but Noni is our player. We consider Noni our player for next season.”

Palmer on Mudryk and number change

Cole Palmer says he has not spoken to Mykhailo Mudryk after taking the winger’s number, the number 10, ahead of the new FIFA Club World Cup and the new season. Palmer said: “I have not spoken to Misha yet, but I will when the time is right. It is not really my place to get involved with him at the minute. I will speak to him. I wore No.10 all my life growing up and I just like the number. Lionel Messi the big one, Wayne Rooney and players like that – it’s an iconic number.”

Mudryk has been charged by the FA over the use of an illegal substance. An FA statement read; “We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in terms of Regulations 3 and 4 of The FA’s Anti-Doping Regulations. As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time.”
