Bayer Leverkusen told Liverpool to "make sure they keep laughing together" after Florian Wirtz followed Jeremie Frimpong to Anfield.
Frimpong's move to Merseyside was finally confirmed on Friday, a week on from the Reds agreeing a fee that could rise to £116 million ($157 million) for the Germany international.
Confirmation of Wirtz's move came three weeks after Frimpong's transfer from Leverkusen to Liverpool was announced, and Leverkusen issued a nice message referencing the pair's friendship.
In a post on social media platform X, Leverkusen shared a series of pictures of Frimpong and Wirtz from the pair's time together with the Bundesliga club, alongside the caption: "Inseparable. Make sure they keep laughing together."
Frimpong figured heavily in Wirtz's unveiling interview with Liverpool's media team, and he spoke extremely fondly of the Netherlands international.
"I played, I think, three or four years with him," Wirtz said of Frimpong. "He's a really good player, a really good person, a really funny guy. Good for every changing room and also on the pitch, big qualities to attack and to defend. He was then the first one who signed with Liverpool and of course he wanted me to join as well. But I think I made my decision by my own, but it was maybe a small part that convinced me in the end as well.
"For sure [it's exciting to know I'll play with Frimpong again at Liverpool]. I think it's a really nice thing that we can play together again at a new club, at maybe a bigger club, and make the move together. I'm really looking forward to standing on the pitch with him again."
Wirtz also revealed that Frimpong was responsible for improving his grasp of the English language; Frimpong speaks fluent English after moving to England as a seven-year-old, remaining in Britain until he left Celtic to join Leverkusen in 2021.
"Yes, he (Frimpong) was my neighbour in the changing room," Wirtz said. "He sat directly next to me and I had to speak English with him. After I finished my school, I didn't speak really good English but he was teaching me a lot and making me speak in more English and better English."
Frimpong uploaded a picture on social media of himself alongside Wirtz earlier this week, suggesting that the pair were on vacation together. Alongside a snap of the pair aboard a boat, Frimpong wrote: "Vacation mode with my bro."
