NFL coaches return to CSRA to host camp at Lakeside High School

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Two NFL coaches from the CSRA came back to host Gridiron Greatness Gridiron Camp at Lakeside.

Cleveland Browns’ cornerbacks coach Brandon Lynch and Indianapolis Colts’ wide receivers coach Brian Bratton both used to play professionally as well.

Lynch played for Hephizibah, and Bratton played for Lakeside.

Over 100 kids attended the camp to learn the fundamentals of football.

Lynch: “I think that I always go back to Coach Dungy’s biggest quote. He said, ‘pride gets you started. But before your biggest jump, you have to drop it.’ And dropping it is about really coming in, serving, doing things that’s bigger than yourself for people. And that’s the main reason that we want to come back home. and really show the community, some of the teachers, some of the people that have done so much for our families. We wanted to really come back and really bediggers of the well that really have fed us so much.”

Bratton: “We came from here, this is where we grew up, and we were guys with dreams from a small town, and nobody really heard about us. So we went out, and we were able to do big things. So we wanted guys to know, hey, you can do it just like we did, better than we did. And if we can help you, we want to.”

Lynch: “I would think like the main thing is not to the 1%, right? Like a lot of us want to be in that 1% that are in the NFL. However, the majority of the people out here are going to fall into that 99%. So really finding values of resilience, finding value in that. OK, you just don’t have to go to the NFL and be a player. But there are so many other job opportunities that you want to make sure that just the little fundamentals of putting your foot behind the line and through the line, having resilience. Those are going to be the things that really help you in life.”

Lynch used to host a kids camp at Hephzibah.

Not only did they have those two guys with pretty impressive resumes, NFL player d’ante smith from Grovetown attended and longtime NFL tight end Algie Crumpler did as well.
