All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Arsenal as they search for their first summer signing.

Arsenal are still scouring the market for possible targets as they look to build a title-ready squad for the new season. The Gunners are still a couple of weeks away from pre-season, but Mikel Arteta will hope to have a couple of new faces in the building ahead of the start of the summer preparations.

The Gunners have plenty of needs this summer, with quality and depth needed at a number of positions, particularly at the top end of the pitch. As the search continues, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the Emirates Stadium.

Zubimendi inbound

Arsenal are expected to wrap up the signing of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, with the midfielder said to be London-bound to finish off the paperwork involved in the deal.

David Ornstein posted on X: “Martin Zubimendi in London to meet Arsenal officials & complete formalities of transfer to Emirates Stadium. 26yo Spain international midfielder joins from Real Sociedad in deal long since regarded at #AFC as done + signed.”

Guehi blow

Arsenal were being linked with a move to sign Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi as they look to increase the level of competition that have for William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, but they are quickly slipping behind in the race, and to a title rival no less.

According to The Telegraph,Liverpool have now moved to the front of the race and are ‘best-placed’ to pull off a deal. Guehi has just one year remaining on his Palace contract, meaning a move is likely, but the Eagles will still want at least £60million to do a deal this summer.

Partey issue questioned

Arsenal have been questioned over the reported decision to allow Thomas Partey to leave the club amid an impasse in contract negotiations. Pundit Steve Nicol told ESPN: “I think what would it mean for Declan Rice? I mean, it seemed to me that Declan Rice is probably going to be the one that suffers most out of this because he’s going to have to drop deep.

“You know, Declan Rice last year, in my opinion, pushed himself from being a defensive midfielder who won the ball, got it back, and gave it to others to a guy who was actually carrying the ball forward, getting in the opposition penalty box, and creating problems. So, I think I think he’s going to be affected more than anybody else. And I don’t understand it. You know, Thomas Partey last year was absolutely one of the defensive rocks that that team has been built on over the years. So for them to lose him, that means a team that, in my opinion, needed one spot up front.

“Put all your money into that position. That’s the position, and that’s the spot that can maybe win you the Premier League to now; they’re going to have to use some of that money to replace Partey. If they don’t resign him. So, every which way you look, it weakens Arsenal. It weakens them from Declan Rice’s point of view. It weakens them from a financial point of view. It weakens them being able to go and spend a lot of money on a centre forward, and ultimately it weakens them defensively.”
