LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Before Cam Jurgens was a Super Bowl champion, he starred on the football field at Beatrice High School. Eight years after his final game in Gage County, Jurgens’ alma mater put his name on the turf.
The school dedicated its turf field ‘Cam Jurgens Field’ during a ceremony on a steamy summer evening at the House of Orange. Jurgens signed autographs, interacted with fans, and was recognized with dozens in attendance.
Jurgens was a three-time All-State selection at Beatrice. He also played basketball for the Orangemen and was a state champion track-and-field athlete. On the gridiron, Jurgens played tight end and linebacker before converting to center in college. The 6-foot-3 Pickrell native flourished along the offensive line at Nebraska. Jurgens was a three-year starter for the Huskers before declaring for the NFL Draft. He was selected 51st overall by the Philadelphia Eagles. In Jurgens’ second season with the Eagles, he helped Philadelphia win Super Bowl LIX.
