Sheffield Wednesday could follow up the likely sale of Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri by selling another top prospect who has previously been linked to the Premier League.
Sheffield Wednesday are yet to pay a handful of players their wages for May, with June’s payments set to be due at the end of the month.
As a result, Sheffield Wednesday have been dropped into a transfer embargo for three windows, meaning that they will be unable to pay transfer or loan fees. On top of this, the Owls have been slapped with a £7k-per-week maximum allowance to pay new players from this summer until Dejphon Chansiri solves the current situation.
There will no doubt be some difficult financial decisions made by Chansiri this summer in an attempt to keep the club afloat – we have already seen Sheffield Wednesday agree to sell Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri to Man City.
Due to the desperate need for funds, Sheffield Wednesday may get rid of another star who will likely fetch a potential seven-figure fee, one that could help the club significantly.

Sheffield Wednesday have very few valuable assets in regards to young players, but one who does fit the bill is Pierce Charles.
The Owls’ shot-stopper became a prominent member of the Sheffield Wednesday squad last season, continuously battling James Beadle for the No. 1 spot. By the end of the campaign, Charles had notched eight Championship appearances, as well as five in cup competitions.
To make the 19-year-old’s 2024/25 season more desirable, he cemented his place in the Northern Ireland senior side, playing seven games. With the accumulation of accomplishments that Charles has notched this season, it could only boost the value of Sheffield Wednesday’s young goalkeeper.

What Danny Rohl has previously said about Pierce Charles
Sheffield Wednesday boss Rohl has previously been incredibly complimentary about Charles this season, describing both the Northern Irish international and James Beadle as ‘number one’ goalkeepers, per The Star.
“We have our own goalkeeper with Pierce, who has worked very hard,” said Rohl when speaking back in March. “He is now the number one for his national team and has improved a lot – he deserved it as well.”
The Owls goalkeeper will certainly command a high fee that Chansiri would be keen to cash in on, especially with Premier League sides previously sounding him out.
Unfortunately, the hopeful prospect of Charles being Sheffield Wednesday’s No. 1 looks rather bleak as many fans would certainly prefer to keep him around as opposed to move him on.
