Man Utd receive huge transfer boost as Bayern now want to sell £30m player

Manchester United and Fulham may have received a huge boost in the race to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Palhinha in the summer.

The Red Devils are looking at a massive summer rebuild under Ruben Amorim after a disappointing 2024/25 campaign, and signing a low-cost midfielder is a priority for them.

Palhinha was a massive success at Fulham before he moved to Bayern in the summer of 2024. The Cottagers are still keen to bring the Portugal international back to Craven Cottage.

The 29-year-old defensive-minded midfielder is currently with the Bayern squad for the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, but he has been overlooked by Vincent Kompany.

Earlier this week, journalist Dean Jones reported for GIVEMESPORT that Man Utd are interested in signing Palhinha on loan.

After signing Matheus Cunha for £62.5 million from Wolverhampton Wanderers, the Red Devils have limited funds to bolster other areas of the pitch.

Manchester United are ready to explore a loan deal for Palhinha, who has struggled to make an impact since joining Bayern.

Fulham are also interested in signing him on an initial loan, although his salary could prove prohibitive.

Christian Falk informed CFBayern Insider that Palhinha will hold talks with Kompany to check if he remains in the manager’s long-term plans.

The Bild journalist said: “Palhinha wants to talk with Kompany and Eberl, if he will have a chance for the next season. The club’s view is that they want to sell him. His prize tag will around £30m. Eberl returned to Europe from Bayern’s camp in the States to focus on transfers.”

The news will come as a huge boost for Man Utd and Fulham. The fact that Bayern are ready to sell should give them encouragement to make a move for him this summer.

Joao Palhinha: His time at Bayern is almost over

Palhinha struggled for regular game time last season under Kompany, and it appears that his situation hasn’t changed.

Kompany made a few changes to the side against Boca Juniors from the previous game, but Palhinha failed to get a single minute.

He wasn’t introduced even after Leon Goretzka was taken off, which shows that Palhinha probably doesn’t feature at all in Kompany’s plans.

Bayern need to raise money from player sales to bring in top-quality stars like Rafael Leao or Bradley Barcola, and Palhinha could be sold.

There is no way Bayern can recoup the money they paid for him, but a loan transfer should not be entertained. Man Utd should be told to pay a premium fee to sign the midfielder.
