Crystal Palace’s efforts to sign Ousmane Diomande from Sporting are inevitably getting a lot of coverage in the Portuguese media.
As the Eagles face the prospect of losing Marc Guehi in the coming weeks, they’ve turned their attention back to Diomande, just as the Portuguese press said they would do.
On Friday, we covered claims which stated an offer was being formulated and then later O Jogo reported the Premier League club had decided to offer €40m, despite it quickly being made clear that wouldn’t be good enough for Sporting.
The Lisbon club have the central defender on a contract lasting until 2027, with a release clause of €80m. Whilst it’s been made clear Sporting won’t demand that much, the actual asking price hasn’t been suggested until today.
Saturday’s edition of A Bola reports Sporting won’t sell Diomande for less than €50m, and it’s stated Crystal Palace aren’t the only club in the race.
Record have it a bit differently, claiming that a minimum of €60m will be needed to convince Sporting, with them also insisting other clubs are keen.
O Jogo mention interest from Newcastle United, which goes back a long way, but claims about Real Madrid interest being keen to be solely conjured up by the UK media.
