Newcastle United have not received any approach from Liverpool for Alexander Isak and remain firm in letting everybody know the striker is not for sale, according to The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards.
Speculation linking Isak with a move to Anfield has escalated in recent days, but Edwards clarifies that there has been “no contact” between the clubs, and no talks—formal or informal—have taken place.
“Nothing has changed and nothing is imminent,” Edwards wrote, citing sources at both Newcastle and Liverpool.
While Liverpool do admire the Sweden international, Newcastle’s position remains firm. Any interested club would need to offer “well in excess” of £150 million just to begin negotiations.
Isak is under contract until 2028 and has not requested a transfer, so it’s either pay-or-nay for prospective suitors at this point, let alone with the Magpies set for a return to the Champions League next season.
Edward states that Isak has shown no signs of wanting to leave and has not communicated any such intent to teammates or club staff. Newcastle, for their part, are under no pressure to sell due to financial rules and do not plan to part with any core players this summer.
Even if Liverpool find a way to offload key, high-salaried players like forwards Darwin Nunez or Luis Diaz to fund a potential bid, Newcastle’s resolve remains strong and their valuation of Isak is independent of whatever the Reds do with their team.
It’s also believed that in the case of an ultimate Isak sale, for one reason or another, NUFC would prefer to sell him to a team outside the Premier League—your PSG, Barcelona, or Real Madrid—rather than to a direct rival.
As of now, Isak is not for sale, and the club’s stance has not shifted—nor will do—on that front.
