With nearly 1000 goals under his belt, the 40-year-old forward is still performing on the world’s greatest stage.
Recently, Cristiano Ronaldo captained his nation to a second UEFA Nations League title, defeating favourites Spain in the final.
Since joining Manchester United in 2003, Ronaldo went on to make 346 appearances for United, pitching 145 goals and 64 assists.
Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United for what was then a world record fee of £80 million. He joined Spanish giants, Real Madrid and took the world by storm winning multiple Champions Leagues and became Madrid’s all-time top goalscorer.
Ronaldo re-joined Manchester United in 2021 after reports he was joining the blue side of Manchester.
In his returning season, Ronaldo played 39 games for United in 2021/22 and scored 24 goals. However, following a fall out with former United boss Erik Ten-Hag, the Manchester United legend left on a sour note and joined Saudi Arabian side, Al-Nassr.

With this summer’s Club World Cup starring the greats of world football, a number of clubs offered Cristiano Ronaldo the opportunity to play in the tournament.
According to Goal, River Plate head coach Marcelo Gallardo personally reached out the Ronaldo in an informal attempt to convince the Portuguese legend to compete in the 2025 Club World Cup.
Gallardo expressed his desire to sign Ronaldo in a recent press conference –
“Back in mid-March, through a mutual friend, I casually asked him, ‘Hey, I’ve got a Club World Cup coming up – any interest in playing it? It’s a tournament made for someone like you, who’s left such a mark on the game.”
Argentine manager, Gallardo, said Ronaldo appreciated the gesture and gave the proposal some thought before ultimately turning down the offer stating he had “to focus on preparing for next season.”
It is an understatement to suggest that Cristiano Ronaldo would have been a great asset to this summer’s tournament. With his friendly rival Lionel Messi scoring a wonderful free-kick in Inter Miami’s most recent game, I am sure Cristiano Ronaldo would have loved the opportunity to show the world that he is still the greatest.
