In June 2019, Celtic brought Hammond on board in a recruitment advisory capacity. He was subsequently appointed as the Hoops’ Head of Football Operations in October 2019.
However, in March 2021 following a disastrous summer and January transfer windows which included Hammond overseeing signings such as Vasilis Barkas, Shane Duffy and Jonjoe Kenny, the Englishman resigned from his position at the club.
He has now been tasked with heading up the player transfer strategy for David Moyes’ side. Hammond joins the Toffies after serving as a transfer advisor for both Leeds United and Newcastle United in his most recent roles.

Angus Kinnear, new Everton CEO, said: “I’m delighted with the appointments of Nick, James and Nick. Their CVs speak for themselves – they are exceptional operators, hugely respected in the game and an example of the ambition we hold as a Club in ensuring the pathways and structures in place across our football operations are of the very highest standard.”
“The fact we had such exceptional candidates for these positions is also a reflection of the direction of the Club. I’m equally delighted by our appointment of Chris and ownership’s strategic acquisition of Insight Sport, which is a further sign of our ownership’s ambition for Everton and I believe step-changes our analytics capability and will deliver us a long-term competitive advantage.”
“The new football leadership structure will ensure our two managers have the very best support, and the very best operators driving the key football operations, to ensure our collective ambitions are realised.”

Meanwhile, in other news, Celtic have announced their third signing of the summer, welcoming back Ross Doohan. Following Scott Bain’s move to Falkirk, Celtic moved swiftly to secure the services of the Scotland international, who was available on a free transfer after leaving Aberdeen.
