The documents are ready for Myles Lewis-Skelly to sign his new contract with Arsenal, following reports of an agreement between player and club earlier this week.

Charles Watts broke the news earlier this week that Myles Lewis-Skelly had agreed a new long-term contract with Arsenal, days before entering the final year of his current deal in north London.

Watts wrote that Lewis-Skelly was always keen to stay, and sporting director Andrea Berta eventually got the deal over the line.

David Ornstein confirmed for The Athletic that Lewis-Skelly was close to signing a new contract to make him one of the world’s best-paid young players, and he added that Mikel Arteta was also vital to the renewal.

Arteta’s strong relationship with Lewis-Skelly was reportedly crucial in talks with the player’s mother and representatives, Marcia Lewis.

Fabrizio Romano now reports that the deal is ready to sign, with all the documents prepared. It’s just a matter of putting pen to paper and then making the new contract official.

Watts had written in his initial piece that the official announcement was expected shortly, so it shouldn’t be too long now.

Lewis-Skelly made 39 appearances for the Arsenal first team in 2024/25, despite starting the season in the u21s.

It seems almost unbelievable that the 18-year-old began the campaign by starting Premier League 2 fixtures against Manchester United and Wolves in August, not even making the bench for the senior side.

Yet by May, the teenager was an undisputed starter for Arteta’s side, and he’s now got a new contract lined up to reflect his importance in the squad.
