**Everton defender Sara Holmgaard is set to depart the club upon the expiration of her current contract at the end of the month.**
The left-back signed in Merseyside in August of 2022, spending a loan spell at DBK Fortuna Hjørring before making her Everton debut in January of 2023.
“Sara has been a top professional since she arrived at the Club and has shone on and off the pitch this season,” head coach Brian Sørensen expressed. “She has enjoyed an impressive year at left-back, whilst supporting her twin Karen through a tough time on the sidelines with injury.”
“Everyone at Everton thanks Sara for the service she has given us and we wish her the best for the future,” he added.
Holmgaard was a standout performer during the 2024/25 Women’s Super League campaign, scoring three goals and providing four assists from defence. The defender is now set to represent Denmark at the upcoming Women’s Euros, with her club future yet to be decided.
