Bayern willing to wait for Nico in case Barca move falls through

Barcelona are hoping to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Club this summer and appear to be in pole position to land the Spain star.

Williams is said to be only interested in moving to Catalunya, despite interest from other clubs, including Bayern Munich.

However, the Bavarian giants are reportedly refusing to give up hope on Williams just yet.

Club chief Max Eberl has jetted back home from the Club World Cup to try and work on transfers ahead of the new season, according to reports in Germany.

Bayern are also keeping a close eye on the Williams situation in case a move to Barcelona falls through this summer after all. Fabrizio Romano reports Bayern “will wait to see” if a deal is completed and will then switch to other options.

Barcelona are said to have agreed personal terms with Williams already and are now working on how to activate his release clause and get him registered.

Hansi Flick is said to be eager for the deal to be completed in time for pre-season, while Williams is also hoping for the deal to go through quickly to ensure he does not have to make an awkward return to Athletic Club.
